Cordell’s Kameron Rivera – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Pond Agency

While athletes put in a lot of work in order to be the best that they can be, they also depend on support and encouragement from those around them. If they are in a slump or just having a bad day, a positive word from someone they respect can go a long way. Kameron Rivera has a few people that have played a part in him becoming the athlete and the person that he is today.

“My family would be the biggest role models for me,” he said. “They support me in everything that I do, and I look up to them. Another person would be my favorite teacher, Mrs. Jackson. She is so positive and has taught me that I can do anything that I set my mind to, I just have to believe in myself.”

Kameron is a senior at Cordell High School. He plays catcher, shortstop, and pitcher for the Blue Devil’s baseball team. He is also a member of the football and basketball teams. He says that baseball has been a part of his life since he was a young child and in order to become the athlete that he is today, he has had to put in a lot of work.

“Two of the biggest things that have helped me become the athlete that I am today have been consistency and time,” he said. “In order to grow, you have to be consistent with your practice and workout times and you cannot skip practices or not give it everything you have.”

Cordell baseball coach Bobby Blackburn says that Kameron is a talented member of the team and is also a good kid off the field.

“He is a very unselfish player,” the coach said. “He can play multiple positions, is very competitive, and is a ‘yes sir’ and ‘no sir’ young man. He is coachable and swings the bat very consistently.”

Throughout his career, Rivera has enjoyed some memorable moments. But he says that there is one moment that was very cool to him.

“Playing high school baseball with my brother is one of the coolest things that I have been able to do.”
