Frederick Bombers Basketball Aims High as AJ McClung Joins the 1,000 Point Club – Presented by Jackson County Memorial Hospital

Last week the Frederick Bombers improved to 19-3 on the season. The Bombers won all three of their regular season tournaments as well as winning the Southern 8 Conference Championship. With just one game remaining before play-offs, they hope their luck will continue.

In another highlight for Bombers fans, senior point guard AJ McClung surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. The school administration, team, and opponents stopped game play to recognize him. At which time he was presented the game ball. Immediately, AJ took his game ball and presented it to his 80-year-old grandmother. She is his biggest fan and has rarely missed a game of his over the past four years – whether the drive was 30 minutes or three hours away, she is there if at all possible. She has become a regular fixture in the Bomber Hangar. It was a special moment that brought smiles and tears to the gym.

“With a little luck, AJ and the Bombers will have at least 6-8 more games left in the tank,” said head coach Andrew McClung. “But however it ends up, it’s been a fun ride and one to remember for the moments like this!”

With a couple of steady seniors and a host of talented and athletic underclassmen, the Bombers are looking to punch their ticket in OKC.
