Grandfield’s Addy Atchley – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Addy Atchley from Grandfield High School started participating in FFA in the eighth grade. It was friends and family who encouraged her to join. Atchley said her mother has always been a role model and someone she looks up to.

“There are so many people in my life that mean the world to me, but my mom, Janene Atchley, has definitely taught me so much,” Atchley said. “She is such a good mom, hard-working, loving and caring, and is always putting others before herself. She is a registered nurse, so during COVID-19 she worked countless hours without days off for a very long period and is still going strong to this day. Although that was a tough time, she never failed to make sure my family and I were taken care of and loved. She is truly my superhero.”

The senior is currently serving her FFA chapter as the Secretary, a job she enjoys doing.

“I most enjoy setting good examples for others, meeting new people, and getting to encounter new and exciting experiences,” she said. “I do not show animals, but at stock shows I help with anything that is needed such as handing out ribbons and awards. I am also active in softball, cheer, and student council.”

As a student-athlete, Atchley puts her team first and loves playing softball with this group of girls at Grandfield.

“I have always had a love for softball from the moment I could start playing T-ball. Being part of the team, getting to travel with my friends, and make fun memories is my favorite part of playing softball,” Atchley said. “My teammates are so encouraging and hard-working, that is what I love most about my team!”

The senior said anyone wanting to learn more about FFA and what it has to offer should ask an FFA member at school.

“Some advice I would give to a future FFA member is to get involved. You will make so many amazing memories, make new friends, and get to leave a positive impact on somebody’s life,” Atchley said.
