Binger-Oney’s Baylie Allen – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

For some teens it takes hitting a growth spurt or years of practice to fall in love with the sport of their choosing. For sophomore Baylie Allen though, it was the second she stepped up to the tee-ball plate.

“I’ve loved sports since I was introduced to them at four years old,” Allen said. “I’m a starter on our school softball team, and I will soon start on the basketball team. The reason I love sports is because they challenge me to become the best player I know I can be. I am a very competitive player, and no matter what I try my best. My teachers, coaches, and all of my friends all push me to do my best.”

In addition to the sports, Allen is the reporter for the Binger-Oney FFA chapter.

“I’ve had interest in showing animals,” she said. “But currently I don’t. I compete in veterinary science, food science, and the shooting sports team. If someone was hesitant about joining FFA, I’d tell them about all of the memories I’ve made, and all of the new friends I’ve met through conventions, camps, and contests. In FFA, there is always something for everybody, no matter what you’re interested in. There are so many agricultural opportunities available.”

In spite of her younger age, Allen said any time she steps onto a court or up to a podium, she’s focused on doing what’s right and being a leader.

“Even though I am younger than them [other players], they don’t treat me any differently,” she said. “They are always lifting each other up and when I fail, they make sure to pick me up also.”

In her free time, Allen said she likes to head to the gym and shoot around to get better. She said when she’s not at the gym, she likes to hang out with her friends and go shopping.

“When it’s deer season, I also like to hunt and enjoy the outdoors,” she said. “Sometimes our FFA officer team gets together to bond with each other, and that’s always an adventure.”
