Hobart Bearcats Boys 2021 Basketball Preview – Presented By Cattlemens Bank

BOYS

Coach: Jeff Tompkins

20-21 Record: 17-9

With several returners from last year’s team that went to the area tournament, the Hobart Bearcats are shooting for an even further postseason run this year. “We have three returning starters and our entire bench back from last year,” says Hobart head coach Jeff Tompkins. “We should have a good 2A team this year.” Leading the Bearcats is Jordyn Johnson (6-1, Sr.). Johnson averaged 13.0 points last year and Tompkins is expecting even bigger things from him this year. “Jordyn is an above average three-point shooter and has the ability to get to the rim and score,” says Tompkins.

Justice Johnson (Soph.) is another Bearcat expected to play a key role this year. Tompkins says he is an outstanding athlete and great defender who can also score. Two other players expected to contribute heavily for Hobart are Wyatt Shelburne (6-1, Sr.) and Tiger Tompkins (5-11, Jr.). “Wyatt is one of our toughest competitors and rebounders. He does a lot of dirty work,” says Tompkins. “Tiger is an outstanding shooter and defender with high character and a strong work ethic.”
