The start of a new era in Ninnekah girl’s basketball is underway as head coach Amber White looks to rebuild a program that graduated several players from a team that won 22-games. “This year’s team is in a rebuilding stage after losing seniors as well as girls transferring out. However, that has shown that a lot of girls that were overlooked have a lot of talent and will work hard to get the job done. They are full of heart when they practice or play regardless of the fact that the team is made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores that have never played in a high school game,” said coach White. Lexi Jo Shoemake (5-5, So.) averaged 4.0 steals a game last year and is expected to bring that intensity to the court this year. Julie Jones (5-7, So.) will likely start at shooting guard where she can hit the three and help on defense. Also look for Aubree Sneed (5-4, So.) at point. Sneed averaged 4.0 points a game last year as a freshman. Hailey Allen (5-10, Fr.) has worked on her post moves and will give the Lady Owls a player who can rebound and block shots. Other players to watch include Gracie Burgess (5-7, Jr.), Raegan Robinson (5-4, Sr.) and Amelia McMillan (5-3, So.). Burgess is a great defender while Robinson accounted for 5.0 points a game last year. McMillan will averaged two to three steals on defense per contest.
