Cement Bulldogs Basketball Preview – Presented By First National Bank And Trust

BOYS
Coach: Todd Davis
20-21 Record: 13-11

The Cement Bulldogs will be young but head coach Todd Davis believes his team has a couple of leaders ready to take charge of this team. “We will be a young team but with great senior leaders in Castil Tallent (6-1, Sr.) and Toby Simmons (5-10, Sr.),” says Davis. “The Cement Bulldogs strength should be from the three-point line.” Tallent is the top returner for Cement. He averaged 7/5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists last season. “Castil is going to have added pressure on him this year,” says Davis. “He is our leader and is looking forward to expanding on his scoring role.” Simmons will see his role expand as well. He will be called on to handle the ball and score from the outside. Konner Kinder (6-2, Jr.) will also be asked to expand his role. “Konner is a very smart player with a solid offensive game,” says Davis. “He will be a threat to score from anywhere and will be a top rebounder. A couple of other guys expected to contribute for Cement is Taylor Wynn (6-0, So.) and Sean Dobry (5-8, Fr.). “Taylor Wynn is an exceptional shooter from the three-point line,” says Davis. “Sean is a confident kid who will outwork any other kid on the court,” says Davis. “His energy and confidence will be a boost for our team.”

GIRLS
Coach: JJ Williams
20-21 Record: 6-17

“The Lady Bulldogs will be better prepared and more experienced than last season,” says Cement girls basketball coach JJ Williams. “The return of four key players and added depth to the bench will give us more opportunities for success.” Bree Nix (5-7, Sr.) is the lone senior on the squad. She led the team with 17.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. “Bree is one of the best scorers in Class B. She can create her own shot and find space in the open floor,” says Williams. Nix is also currently being recruited by several colleges. Kenzie Turner (6-1, Jr.) was also a double digit scorer last season. She averaged 10.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. “Kenzie is athletic, fast, and tall. She stepped up last season to lead the team in the paint,” says Williams. Taylor Malone is also expected to play a bigger role. She averaged 6.4 points and 2.4 steals last season in a year that was slowed down by an injury. Other key players for Cement are forward Emma Murray (5-3, Jr.), Jasmine Chandler (5-4, So.), Miley Turner (5-9, Fr.), and Heaven Ladymon (5-4, Fr.).
