Sayre’s Emily Easter – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Robert C Stevens At Edward Jones Investing

By Derrick Smith

Athletes can have a lot of memorable moments during the span of their careers. These moments can vary from winning a championship to reaching a personal milestone. Emily Easter has been involved in sports for a long as she can remember and says she has many moments that have been important to her and her team.
“I can’t say I’ve had just one specific highlight moment,” she said. “But a few moments do stick out to me. One was my freshman year when I scored my first varsity basketball points. I had been looking forward to that my entire life. Another moment came just a few weeks ago when our high school softball team rallied together to go eleven innings to beat Sentinel on Senior Night. As a team, we never gave up and I was able to score the winning run on a passed ball.”

Easter is a sophomore at Sayre High School, where she is a multisport athlete. She plays softball, basketball, she is a member of the track team, and also competes in rodeo events.
She has had a number of people that have influenced her life over the years, but Easter says that there are a few that have made a bigger impact.
“Both coaches Staci Wilson and Brian Richardson have been role models for me to look up to,” she said. “They have taken the time to speak to me one on one to encourage and build me up. Through that, they have given me the confidence to know I can be a productive member of each team I’ve been a part of but also in life. They are the type of coaches that truly care about the player in and out of the game.”
While she has put in a lot of hard work, Emily says that she is thankful for those that have helped her along the way.
“I am so thankful for the coaches, teachers, parents, and friends that have helped mold me into the player and teammate that I am and am becoming,” she said. “I am thankful that God has given me the ability. And I am thankful for my parents that have always supported and encouraged me.”
