Arapaho-Butler’s Kamryn Oakes – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Arapaho-Butler High School’s Kamryn Oakes is a sophomore and a three-sport athlete. When Oakes is not competing athletically, she is probably competing in FFA. Oakes was in the eighth grade when she first joined the FFA because it was something she always wanted to do.

“No one really encouraged me to join, ever since I have started showing I’ve always wanted to be in FFA,” said Oakes.

There are many things about FFA that Oakes truly enjoys. The animals she shows are very important to her and she loves being on the other side of the ring as a judge.

“I really enjoy going to shows and judging contests,” said Oakes. “I show cattle, judge and do speeches.”

Oakes said being in FFA is a fun opportunity that more students should take advantage of while in school.

“I would tell them that it’s so fun and it’s an amazing opportunity to become a better person and to learn how to be a leader and be prepared for the future,” said Oakes.

The sophomore gave credit to her parents for always being there to push her out of her comfort zone and encourage her to work hard.

“My parents are always pushing me to be my best and are always there when I need their help and are very understanding,” said Oakes.

The softball, basketball and track athlete also finds the time to be involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
“I really love that my teammates are all a family, and we always have just played together so well,” Oakes continued. “That we are always there for each other and will always pick each other up when one of us are having a bad day.”
