Alex’s Ashton Brandon – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Canadian Valley Technology Center

By Derrick Smith

Athletics is something that requires work and preparation. If an athlete or team is not prepared for competition, it will show once the game begins. Ashton Brandon knows what it has taken for him to be the best that he can be.
“I have worked hard to get where I am today,” he said. “It takes dedication and hard work in order to be successful on the field. I enjoy working alongside my teammates and seeing the progress and improvements we are making individually and as a group.”

Ashton is a senior at Alex High School, where he plays football and baseball. On the gridiron, he plays running back and slot receiver, while he plays center field on the baseball diamond.
Throughout his life, Brandon says that he has had numerous people influence his life. But he says that there are a couple of them that stand out as his favorite.
“One of the role models I look up to is Marshawn Lynch,” he said. “He is a really good running back. He knew what it took to be great and he went and did it. Another person that I look up to is my favorite teacher, Mrs. Owens. She was a great teacher in the classroom and was just a very uplifting person.”

Along with being a student at Alex, Ashton also takes classes at the Chickasha campus of Canadian Valley Technology Center. He is taking classes in the Auto Collision program because he is planning for his future after high school.

“I chose to take Auto Collision because it is a good skill to have,” he said. “It also give me the ability to get a good job with that kind of experience.
There have been some good memories made by Ashton and his teammates over the years, both on and off the field. While he has enjoyed those moments, Brandon says that there is one memory that is pretty special to him.
“The highlight moment of my career is getting to play my senior year alongside my brother Nick,” he said. “It definitely makes my senior year more special.”
Outside of his sports, Ashton is a member of the Technology Student Association. After he graduates, he says that he plans to attend college and obtain his business degree.
