Chickasha’s Rylie Weber – FFA Spotlight Presented by Ok Ag Credit

Rylie Weber

Chickasha High School

Entering her junior year at Chickasha High School, Rylie Weber is serving as the reporter on the officer team with the FFA chapter at school. She’s also on the land judging team. Weber got her start in FFA when she was a freshman after spending several years around older students who were involved in the program.

“I’ve always been around older kids who were in FFA. I would listen to them talk about how much fun the organization was, so I marked it as my very first choice in pre-enrollment,” said Weber.
For Weber, being in the program wasn’t enough. She wanted to be involved with many of the activities offered to the students.

“One thing I enjoy about the FFA is all the opportunities that you are given. No matter what your interests are there is an SAE, CDE, or LDE to hone your skills for your future career. The FFA is a place where you can just be yourself and you’re always accepted,” said Weber. “The skills you’re taught in this organization carry over into real life. These things go past high school. Whether you’re in the shop or the in the classroom, at the barn or at a contest everything you learn can and will be used later in life. The FFA sets you up for success in the future.”

Weber raises and shows steers at the Oklahoma Youth Expo.

“I have been involved with this activity for the past two years and I have been able to show one heifer and am currently raising my second steer,” said Weber.

If being heavily involved in FFA wasn’t enough, Weber plays sports and is involved in other clubs on campus.

“I am a member of Student Council, varsity basketball and softball, along with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, First Priority, and National Honor Society,” said Weber.

Weber said her father has been a big influence in her life.

“He always taught me to work hard and put others first. My dad believed that everyone deserves a second chance. He always supported me in everything I did whether that was extra time in the cages or staying way late at the barn. Even though he is no longer with us he still influences me daily to be the best version of me,” said Weber.

The junior offers this advice to any student wanting to join FFA.“Do it. The things you learn, the people you meet, it’s all unmatched. I’ve never experienced anything like it. The opportunities are endless. My best days have been spent with the FFA,” said Weber.
