Bridge Creek Bobcat Football Preview – Presented By First National Bank & Trust Co.

Coach – TANNER KOONS

OFFENSE

Tanner Koons is in his first season at the helm of the Bobcat football team and he says that he is ready to see his team hit the field. “I am excited to get to be a part of this team,” he said. “Our players have been putting the work in and we hope to see it pay off in the fall. We have a great group of senior leaders that have set a great example for our team.” Jason Linn (5-11, 170, Sr.) will play quarterback and lead the offense this season and may spend some time playing running back. He will be protected by an offensive line including Alex Simons (6-3, 250, Sr.), Shane Lundy (5-11, 200, Jr.), and Tanner Stafford (6-2, 220, Sr.). Parker Van Syckle (6-0, 170, So.) will fill in at quarterback when Linn moves to play running back. Van Syckle has a high ceiling and continues to improve every day. Looking to be a threat on the outside will be wide receiver Chad Breazeale (5-8, 170, Sr.).

DEFENSE

The Bobcats return six starters from last season’s squad and Koons’ team looks for that experience to be beneficial. Doing the dirty work in the trenches will be defensive end Randy Nix (6-2, 220, Jr.) and defensive lineman Ryan Place (5-9, 170, So.). Maintaining things in the middle will be linebacker Logan James (6-1, 190, Sr.). James is described as a tough, hard-nosed player with a big role to play this season. He is an excellent leader with a tremendous work ethic. Patrolling things in the secondary will be defensive backs Brock Merchant (6-0, 180, Jr.), Ashton Blewett (5-11, 175, Jr.), and Raegan Palmer (6-1, 175, So.). They are quick and will work hard to keep the opposing receivers at bay. Another player to watch this season is Caden Morrow. Morrow is a younger player who does all of the little things right. His attention to detail in his work and his reliability is making coaches and teammates take notice. Assistant coaches include Dawson Bassett, Mike Claffin, Wakley Bergner and Jay Chase.
