OFFENSE

After a three and eight season in 2020, the Tigers are ready to turn some heads this fall. “This young Canton team is up to the challenge and will be ready to represent the Orange and Black this fall,” head coach Caleb Howell said. The Tigers plan to return five starters from the 2020 team, including senior Johnie Burton. Burton (5-10, 205, Sr.) has played just about every position for the Tigers but looks to play full back this year. “This season we are looking to utilize his talents more, and with a year of our offense under his belt, I’m excited and expect him to have a breakout season,” said Howell. Other returning starters are tight end Connor Cox (6-1, 195, Jr.), wide receiver Hudsen Scott (6-1, 170, Jr.), offensive lineman Jacob Rutz (5-10, 235, Jr.), tailback Brandon Day (5-10, 185, Jr.) and quarterback Luke Swartwood (6-0, 170, So.).

DEFENSE

The Tigers are retuning over half of their starting defensive players from a year ago.  Burton and Luke Foster (6-4, 200, Jr.) look to play aggressively on the defensive line.  Burton, coming off of a very successful junior season campaign, was awarded underclassman All-District honors at the defensive end position. Cox returns at the linebacker position, and Scott and Tanner Cauble (6-2, 150, Sr.) are returning to the defensive back positions. At the strong safety position, Canton is returning Swartwood.  The Tigers might have some new and young faces in their starting rotation but look to be aggressive throughout the 2021 season.
