Head coach Cheyenne Graham enters his 13th season at Amber-Pocasset High School and has the baseball team ready to take on a tough schedule this fall.
“We put together a tough schedule to help prepare young players for everyday grind. We expect to get after every day with an emphasis on hard play, competitiveness, and reliability,” said coach Graham.
With three senior starters returning to the lineup with multiple pitchers, Am-Po has the look of a team ready for a deep run this season.
“We return three senior starters in Kyle Williams (3B/SS), Brayden Bingham (1B/P), and Sean Tallent (OF),” said Graham.
Four of their top five arms from last season are back as well including Tyler Shaw, Brayden Bingham, Carson Howe, and Jared Jones. And the bench is developing into a group of talented young players who may contribute to the overall success of the team this season.
“The bench is full of up-and-coming young players who will push the first group,” said Graham. “Hopefully you will see more of the same traits we have showed in the past. Good pitching, strong defensive, and an aggressive offense.”
One question that does need answered is who will step up and be the emotional leader of the team. Coach Graham said many of the leaders are the quiet, follow-me and lead through example types, but he is looking for someone to step up and be the heart and soul of the team. Their first big test comes opening weekend at the Dale Tournament.
