Thomas’ Cooper Frymire – Track Spotlight – Presented by Best in Oklahoma

Cooper Frymire is a 19 year old senior from Thomas High School who runs the relay and plays football for the Terriers. He said he fell in love with football when he watched a Philadelphia Eagles game in 2016, but he’s always loved running track.

“It’s so calming to run, especially on a cold day,” he said. “This season is going great. We won our regional and I qualified for state in all three of my events. We have won the championship two times, we have great team support, and team morale is great on this team. We are excited for the last week as our track season finishes up.”

After high school, Frymire said he plans to run cross country at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and pursue a degree in health sciences and sports management. In his free time, he said he likes to golf, fish, read books, play video games, run, and watch movies with friends.

As a senior, Frymire said he recognizes he has an impact on some of the younger players on the track, and he said he’s doing his best to make sure they are equipped to carry on the legacy of greatness at Thomas.

“We have some younger distance runners this year and I have enjoyed being around helping and getting to know them,” he said. “I know we will see great things from them in the next few years. I’m excited for the future of our track team, with our tradition and now our brand new facilities we are proud and ready to work.”

Frymire also said even though there have been a number of people who have contributed to his success, he wanted to mention a few specifically.

“I want to thank my coach, Matt Hart, for always pushing me hard and being there with encouragement,” he said. “And my parents and the rest of my family for always being at my events and cheering me on.”
