Navajo’s Kobe Forbes – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Chad Lee State Farm

Kobe Forbes is a right fielder, third baseman, and catcher for the Navajo Indians, and he is busily working his way through the post-season.

“We’re still in regionals,” Forbes said. “We’re 19-8 right now and morale is good. I try to pick up kids and make sure no one has their head down. I want to help anyone who is struggling with something on and off the field. On the field I want to make sure everything is going well and no one has their head down. Off the field, if someone has problems in their personal life, I just want to make sure that their head is on right and they don’t do something they’ll wind up regretting.”

Forbes said his summer plans will include playing travel ball for the Shockers, and practicing with his school team.

“Once that’s over it’ll be back to grinding baseball and getting better,” he said. “You can’t be satisfied with where you’re at now, you can always improve.”

When it comes to the positive influences in his life, Forbes counts his family chief among them.

“I want to thank my dad for always making time to come to my games, and continuing to push me to be better,” he said. “And my mom for always taking me to games and making sacrifices so she can see her kids play the game. I also want to thank my coach for continuing to push me to become a better person and ball player.”

In his free time, Forbes said he likes to go out and play catch with his brother. He also likes to watch video of his own games to see what he could improve on.

“I like to see what I can fix on my swing, or if I need to get a better jump while running the bases,” he said.
