Duncan’s Hunter Prince – Coast Guard “Always Ready” Athletes of the Month

Duncan High School senior athlete Hunter Prince, could not be more excited about where he is today.

“I moved to Duncan when I was in the fourth grade and quickly fell in love with high school sports,” said Hunter. “I always dreamed about being in the position I am in today and could not be happier.”

Not only is being a good teammate, student, and athlete important to Hunter, but doing what he does while still having great character is what really matters to him.

“Good character means a lot. It means to be a leader and great teammate,” Hunter said. “To always have that sense of calmness about you no matter what kind of adversity you are going through.”

Hunter stays active by being an outside linebacker on the football team and playing shortstop and pitcher for the baseball team.

“I love to pitch; it makes me know I am in control of the game,” said Hunter. “The adrenaline that goes through my body before the first pitch; nothing compares.”

Being an active student athlete while keeping up with schoolwork can be a challenge for anyone, but Hunter makes sure to put the important things first.

“I make sure all my priorities are straight, such as grades and family before I go out and have fun,” said Hunter.

Hunter grew up playing sports and they mean the world to him.

“I love to compete and play the games I love,” said Hunter. “Sports have taught me valuable life lessons such as being a leader and putting max effort into everything I do.”

Even though Hunter loves what he does, times can still get stressful for the senior. In those times he remembers how much work he has already put in.

“When times get tough I think of all the hard work I have put in to get to this position,” Hunter said. “All the long runs and countless hours in the weight room.”

After high school Hunter plans to continue his education and attend the University of Oklahoma.
